After 24 hours of trending topics and news headlines, Keshia Knight Pulliam has had enough. Instead of staying mum on the status of her personal life, the Cosby Show actress tackled the whispers head on and sat down with Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday night to give the real tea behind her divorce.
"I didn't cheat on my husband. I didn't do it. It's really that simple," the actress told ET's Nischelle Turner after rumors swirled that the her 6-month marriage to former NFL player Ed Hartwell ended because of infidelity. The House of Pain star says it was her husband who was doing the cheating.
"Early on in my marriage when I was faced with this, I was ready to leave," she said. "In the process, I found out I was pregnant. And I had to take another hard look and decide if I wanted to try to work through this and forgive him for the sake of the child. Like, I had divorce papers ready. I presented it to him. ... Once I was pregnant I did decide to give him that one last chance."
Pulliam goes on to say her only mistake in this marriage was not believing him when he showed her who he was the first time. "I love who he pretended to be," she said. "I love who he portrayed himself as, and the one mistake I made was, when he showed me who he really was, not believing him. Not believing him the first time. When he said he wanted our marriage, he wanted our family -- I believed him.”
