Major side eye is being thrown at the Republican Nation Convention (RNC) after a sign was spotted labeling a bank of elevators the “white elevators.” It was Wall Street Journal reporter, Byron Tao who first noticed the signs and was told they’d be replaced “for obvious reasons.”

Twitter responded, speculating that the elevators were color coded so that people could easily find their way and that there are corresponding “red” and “blue” elevators.

Out of context, the Jim Crow-esque sign is very reminiscent to the signs that once facilitated segregation in public areas.

The RNC kicks off today and will end Thursday night with Donald Trump formally accepting the party’s nomination.
