It looks like Alicia Keys is taking her #NoMakeup pledge seriously. The singer appeared on the red carpet at the 2016 BET Awards dressed in an all black jumpsuit paired with metallic accessories and little to no makeup.
This occurs in the wake of her powerful essay for Lena Dunham's website "The Lenny Letter," in which she vowed to go "makeup free" after feeling empowered by her makeup-free photoshoot for her sixth album cover.
"I don't want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing," she noted in her essay.
We're loving this raw beauty movement that Keys is embracing and hope that it catches on. After all, with gorgeous glowing skin like hers, it's almost unthinkable that she felt the need to "cover up" in the first place!

If leaving the house without a stitch of makeup makes you a little weary, join the club! Self-acceptance is a slow process. For starters, try weaning yourself off of your makeup one product at a time, or limit yourself to one color product a day. Our go-to hero product for a quick fresh face is blush; try Nyx Cosmetics Ombré Blush in Soft Flush (featured in our ESSENCE Beauty Box this month!), you'll get a gorgeous glow in half the time, and you won't feel like you're covering anything up, only enhancing your beauty!
