The Gabrielle Union led drama series calls on some familiar names for production on the upcoming season.

The hunt for an executive producer and showrunner for the BET drama series Being Mary Jane starring Gabrielle Union is over.

It has been announced that Will Packer will take over as an EP while Erica Shelton Kodish will step in as showrunner and fellow executive producer.

“It's an amazing time to be involved in producing great television and this is the rare opportunity to work with Gab, who I think is one of the best actresses doing it today, whom I also consider family," said Packer. "BET is a tremendous partner and Erica has the perfect skill set to handle a show of this magnitude."
Mara Brock Akil is Just As Curious As We Are to See How 'Being Mary Jane' Will Turn Out

The fate of the series leadership was left up in the air when its creator Mara Brock Akil announced in August 2015 she'd be stepping down as showrunner to take on the role of executive consultant for the show instead.

Kodish, who was previously an executive producer on the recently ending CBS series The Good Wife, echoed Packer’s sentiments on joining the production team.

“I’m honored to have an opportunity to partner with Will Packer, Gabrielle Union, and BET to create stories for Being Mary Jane,” she added. “Mara Brock Akil has created a show that has a unique ability to address issues relevant to black women and I’m thrilled to be in a position to tell those stories.”

Season four production is set to begin in Atlanta later this year.
