Lupita Claps Back, Says Audrey Hepburn Wasn’t Inspiration For Met Gala Hair

Lupita Nyong’o says MET Gala hair wasn’t reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn, but rather a celebration of black and African women hairstyles.

Lupita Nyong’o high hair hair at Monday night’s Met Gala is the latest victim to absurdity and lack of appreciation for beauty outside of European standards. Even after Lupita made it perfectly clear her inspiration for the most-talked about hair of the evening was from Nina Simone, some folks didn’t listen and proclaimed the look paid homage to Audrey Hepburn.

Lose the point much? Well, Lupita clapped back in a clever and classy way by posting a video of her hair next to images of Nina Simone and traditional African hairstyles side by side making sure to tag her hairstylist, Vernon François for further clarification. Check out the video below:
