Jennifer Hudson Leads 'The Color Purple' Cast in Tribute to Prince

On Thursday, April 21, the cast of The Color Purple honored the late music genius Prince. Jennifer Hudson led the tribute, beginning with a few words about the icon she was fortunate enough to call a friend.

 "He said his music will live on and he will through his music," she said. "So we want to keep him alive today with a song. I might not get through it, but I will try."

The cast, which includes Danielle Brooks of Orange Is the New Black, absolutely floored the audience with Prince's "Purple Rain" as the crowd joined in for the tribute. It's absolutely one of the most amazing and outstanding moments on Broadway. Prince would have loved it.
