This year's Black Girls Rock awards show filled us with so much #BlackGirlMagic we aren't quite sure what to do with ourselves.
From the performances to the speeches, to the fashions to the beauty, we all collectively rejoiced as amazing women were saluted for their contributions to music, the arts and the community.
Celebrants Rihanna, Shonda Rhimes, Gladys Knight, Danai Gurira, Amandla Stenberg and Black Lives Matter founders Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi moved us with their dynamic and powerful words. Brandy, Jazmine Sullivan, Andra Day, Lauryn Hill, Marsha Ambrosius, Corrive Bailey Rae, Monica even Living Legend award recipient Gladys Knight gave us life when they hit the stage.
During the awards show, Black Twitter basked in the glory of all the Black girls who truly do rock.
"I had a Black girl that rocked in my family.
I called her mom."
A lot of our mothers paved the way for us Black girls. #BlackGirlsRock
This feels so good. Seeing us affirmed. Us celebrating the immense talent on stage. Let's hold on to this. Always. #BlackGirlsRock
I can't even imagine what it's like to be a young black girl & have a show like this on television. #BlackGirlsRock
And when black women rock, black families rock, and America rocks, the world rocks #BlackGirlsRock
women are always the backbone of our movements. don't you ever forget it. #blackgirlsrock
But you know no Black Twitter party goes with some jokes along the way.
