Director Nate Parker will be honored at this year's Tribeca Film Festival's Disruptive Innovation Awards.

Nate Parker Is Launching a Film School at Wiley College to Cultivate New Voices

The Disruptive Innovation Awards are give to those who have impacted business models and industries and aims to give insight into innovation. Parker will received the Theodore Parker Prize during the ceremony for his work in the industry and his film The Birth of a Nation, which tells the story of Nat Parker, an American slave who led the most successful slave rebellion in American history.

Nate Parker Receives Directing Award at CinemaCon

The ceremony will take place April 22. The Birth of a Nation is expected to hit theaters in October.
