Williams credits the film for its contribution to a discussion on the sex lives of women. Fresh out of college, she said Lee's first feature film reaffirmed her "woman hear me roar" attitude. "As a young woman, you're juggling you're men, you're juggling your job, why should we have to choose?" she said. "That was Sex in the City before there was Sex in the City."

Williams chose She's Gotta Have It, The Hurt Locker and The Professional as part of a theme she's calling "You Go Girl: Films Powered by Women." The Tribeca Shortlist debuted last fall for film lovers to discover and stream quality movies. Tyler Perry will also be curating his own shortlist this month.
