Being Committed to Your Commitments: 4 Ways to Stop Making Excuses and Achieve Your Goals

To all of my girls out there working on self-improvement and becoming a fierce, fun and fabulous young woman--this post is for you!

How many times have you said that you were going to start, or stop doing something because you knew that it would help to better your situation, but for one reason or another the commitment that you made to yourself fell through the cracks?

I know I’m not the only one raising both hands to that one!

Whether it was taking a break from Instagram, cutting off unhealthy relationships, trying to eat better, or simply staying on top of the ball in school, we some how convinced our selves that “ahh, I’ll just work on getting better at this tomorrow, or the next day, or the next.” 

But no, we need to work on improving ourselves today!

Whether you want to realize it or not, it is very important that you maintain consistency and a definiteness of purpose in all of your efforts. If you want to grow and develop into a strong, ambitious, game-changing woman, then: you have to focus, stop making excuses and be committed to your commitment. 

If you are struggling to regain your focus, its okay! You are not alone in your journey.  I want to share with you four helpful tips that I have learned over the years to help me stay on track, with hopes that they will do the same for you.

Being disciplined

You have to be able to limit yourself to the things in life that take you off of your game. If you know that you struggle with time management and that’s something that you want to work on, then stop spending hours scrolling down your timeline.  Tell yourself no, and find something more productive to do.

Accountability partner

When trying to meet your goals, it is always great to have someone in your corner cheering you on, and holding you accountable for your actions, so you are less apt to slip-up.

Stop making excuses

Just delete the phrase “But, I…” out of your vocabulary. You know yourself better than anyone else does; so when you feel like you’re about to make an excuse as to why you can’t do something, just STOP! Always feed your mind with what you can do, not what you can’t.

Only bite off what you can chew

When goal-setting start small. You don’t want to put so much pressure on yourself that you become overwhelmed and discouraged to move forward.
