We hope you’re hungry. New series ESSENCE Eats takes viewers on a journey across the U.S. to discover some of America’s most fascinating Black culinary professionals and tell their stories. From top chefs to burgeoning restaurant owners, ESSENCE Eats is going inside their lives and kitchens to share the passions, dreams and tales behind the recipes and restaurants they cherish.
The 12-episode series, hosted by ESSENCE.com Relationships and Lifestyle Editor Charli Penn, checks in with chef to the stars Jourdan ChaTaun in Los Angeles and pays Chef Roble’s new Brooklyn hotspot Streets a visit in New York. Wildly popular food blogger Angela “The Kitchenista” Davis welcomes viewers into her rural home for the evening and prepares a special home cooked meal. We’ll get on the road with two of the hottest new food trucks in the country: Chef E Dubble’s Grilled Fraiche Cali-Caribbean cuisine in Los Angeles and two college best friends’ dreams realized with DC metro’s Neat MeatDC.
Meanwhile in Atlanta you’ll meet three close girlfriends who believe their new food stand is #BlackGirlMagic at its finest and a total labor of love and a young and already seasoned restaurateur who has successfully launched Negril Village ATL, a version of the popular NYC location. Plus, so much more.
This series will be a personal and detailed look at what makes these “foodies” tick –their routines, most popular dishes, their challenges and their dreams. Watch and drool!
