Detailing the episode on her Facebook page, the world class athlete said she spotted the perp and kept an eye on his whereabouts.

"I was sitting enjoying some Chinese food (delicious may I add) and this guy stands next to me," she said. "Something (I have now dubbed it my SUPERHERO sense told me to watch him. When the man made a move, Williams had a swift response to getting back what was rightfully hers.

"When I least expected lo and behold this common petty theif grabbed my phone and swiftly left. I looked at the chair, then shouted 'Omg that dude took my phone!!' Not thinking I reacted (hence the superwoman photo) I jumped up, weaved my way in and out of the restaurant (leaping over a chair or two) and chased him down."

The 34-year-old recovered her phone and returned back to the restaurant, receiving a standing ovation from patrons for her actions.

She reminded everyone, especially women, to always listen to their initution in matters such as these.

"Always listen to your superhero inner voice. Always keep your things close! Fight for what's right. Stand for what you believe in! Be a superhero!," she added. "Just because you are a lady don't be afraid to step up to any challenge and not be a victim but a hero!"
