Straight Outta Compton's box office reign isn't over yet.
Billboard reports that F. Gary Gray's NWA biopic is the highest grossing film from a Black director in history.
So far, the movie, which follows the rise and fall of the hip-hop group, has grossed an unbelievable $200 million—$161 million domestically—bypassing Scary Movie's record of $157 million. Just days after its release, Straight Outta Compton made history as the highest-earning R-rated film released in August, and most recently, it became the highest-grossing musical biopic.
And the NWA monopoly isn't over yet: The film has yet to be released in four countries, including Spain and Russia, which means that the movie's prowess will only continue to grow.
