A newly released 911 call suggests that former Los Angeles Lakers player Lamar Odom, who remains in critical condition, had used cocaine and taken up to 10 herbal Viagra supplements leading up to his hospitalization in Las Vegas.
USA TODAY reports that Odom, who had checked into a Las Vegas brothel on Saturday, was rushed to a hospital Tuesday afternoon after employees found him in his room unresponsive with blood and "white stuff" coming out of his nose and mouth. According to the 911 call, Odom had used cocaine shortly after he checked in.
"They confirmed his [cocaine] usage on Saturday, but were unsure if it had continued throughout the weekend," Las Vegas Sheriff Sharon Wehrly said at a press conference.
The sheriff did not disclose any information on Odom's condition, but pending his recovery, he could face charges of drug possession. Rev. Jesse Jackson, who is at Odom's bedside, told reporters that the athlete shows signs of progress.
"Apparently from what the doctor said, he was much better off today than yesterday," Jackson said. "He at least has some responsiveness now. He's got tubes in him now, but we felt inspired by his presence. We're just holding hands and hoping he can bounce back."
We continue to send our prayers to Odom and his family.
