Oprah to Star In Upcoming OWN Drama 'Greenleaf'

A show about the iniquities in a megchurch? We're intrigued!

Surprise! Oprah Winfrey has another project on her plate.

The queen of television has just signed on to star in Greenleaf, the newest drama on the Oprah Winfrey Network, reports Entertainment Weekly. Winfrey is also slated to produce the project, which premieres sometime next year.

The show, which also stars Keith David and Lynn Whitfield and is produced by Winfrey, follows the Greenleaf family, which heads the megachurch Greenleaf World Ministries. Winfrey will star as Mavis McCready, Whitfield's sister.

"Like so many megachurches in America, Greenleaf World Ministries is more than just a house of worship," OWN said in a statement. "It's a home. But beneath its steeple lies a den of iniquity."
