The brand will honor Zendaya for encouraging young girls to "raise their voices."
Zendaya is set to get the Barbie treatment.
The iconic brand took to Twitter Friday to share their excitement about honoring the young star for encouraging young girls to "raise their voices."
The doll will be made in the likeness of her Vivienne Westwood look from the 2015 Oscars, complete with her faux locs that gained much attention when former E! Correspondent Giuliana Rancic made derogatory comments about her hair. Her eloquent response to the incident clearly got the attention of Barbie.
“I’m excited to be a part of the new direction the Barbie brand is headed, specifically how they are celebrating diversity in the line and encouraging kids to raise their voices,” Zendaya said in a statement. “It’s a positive message to send to my fans, including my nieces who are coming with me to the concert.”
Zendaya will be honored with her one-of-a-kind doll at the Barbie Rock ‘N Roayls Concert Experience in Hollywood next weekend. There is no word yet on if the doll will be available for purchase.
