Comedian Jon Stewart ditched the jokes last night and delivered a moving speech on his show following news of the tragic Charleston church shooting.
The Daily Show host said he had “nothing other than just sadness” in light of the hate crime that took the lives of nine people at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal church in Charleston, South Carolina on Wednesday night.
Stewart criticized news outlets for calling the incident a “tragedy” saying the media was, “already using the nuanced language of lack of effort for this. This is a terrorist attack. This is a violent attack on the Emanuel Church in South Carolina, which is a symbol for the black community.”
