The ESSENCE Empowerment Experience just got a million times better. We’ve officially added “Empire” star (and one of our June coverstars), Jussie Smollett, and multi-talented actress Keke Palmer to our daytime lineup.
Each day during the 2015 ESSENCE Empowerment Experience is designated to a specific day centered around its Peace, Purpose and Prayer theme. As we have all seen in the past few years, it is time to address and work through issues in our communities dealing with social injustice, equality and much more. Along with the brightest and most informed experts in each arena, the ESSENCE FEST team signed on popular talent to get involved with each day to raise awareness for each pressing issue.
This year, Empire star Jussie Smollett has signed on to speak on Friday, July 5 at “The Power of Love & Family: Ending AIDS in Black America” panel. He will join Dr. Leo Moore, Otis and LaTongia to tackle real solutions and ways to communicate the importance of health, support and comprehension of living with one of the world’s most taboo diseases.
Brotherly Love actress Keke Palmer will be on hand to host the next two days, July 6 and 7, during our days of peace and prayer. On Saturday, she will moderate an eye-opening panel called, “No Judgment Zone” featuring a few of the most polarizing figures in pop culture: reality stars Claudia Jordan and Mariah Huq as well as author Karrine Steffans. Then, Palmer will join us again on Sunday to introduce several dynamic artists who are performing to honor Kim Burrell at our annual All Star Gospel Tribute.
NOLA, here we come!
