ESSENCE Poll: How Do You Handle Mental Health Issues in Your Family?

Not everyone on last night's "Empire" fully accepted Andre's bipolar diagnosis. How do you handle mental health issues in your family?

Last night's Empire confronted the issues of mental health in our community head on. Last week, we saw Andre (Trai Byers) having a mental breakdown, and this week, we saw that his family made the difficult decision to check him into a rehabilitation facility.

But there was more to the story. Lucious (Terrence Howard) had been aware of his son's condition for 10 years, but declined getting him the proper help. Cookie immediately dismissed his music therapy, deeming his diagnosis—and potential treatment—a "White people problem."

But we all know that's not the case. It's an issue that affects all people, regardless of race, ethnicity or socioeconomic status. If you were to find out that someone in your family was suffering from a mental disorder, how would you handle it? Take our poll and leave us a comment explaining your choice.
