The cure to your foot pains may be in a little blue can of vegetable shortening.

While appearing on the Ellen DeGenres ShowViola Davis recently revealed that the night before the SAG Awards, where she won for outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama, she was worried about walking in heels with a painful bunion on her foot.

Her solution? A can of Crisco. Yes, the white, fatty grease is a staple in southern kitchens and also in Davis' beauty regimen.

"I've got a bunion on my right foot. So before the awards, I told my husband to go to the store and get a can of Crisco," she said. Davis rubs the greasy salve into her foot to smooth the skin, ease the friction and soothe the dry skin.

"It (also) gets rid of the ash!" Davis added. Apparently Crisco is good for more than frying chicken.
