Former Death Row Records CEO Marion “Suge” Knight has been charged with murder.
The hip-hop mogul is accused of killing one man and injuring another in a hit-and-run yesterday on the set of the upcoming NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton. Witnesses say Knight got into a fight with the two victims before following the men to a fast food restaurant, where he struck them with his truck, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
“Looks like he drove backwards and struck the victims, and drove forwards and struck them again,” L.A. County Sheriff Lt. John Corina told The Hollywood Reporter.
Though Knight’s lawyers admit that he was indeed driving the vehicle, they said that their client did not intend to hit the men.
“We are confident that once the investigation is completed, he will be totally exonerated,” his lawyer, James Blatt, told The Associated Press. “He was in the process of being physically assaulted by two men, and in an effort to escape, he unfortunately hit [two] other individuals. He was in his car trying to escape.
Authorities offered a “Be On The Look Out” alert after the incident, but Knight turned himself in Friday morning. He was questioned by police for three hours, and is currently being held on $2 million bond.
