How did you meet your man?
I met him freshmen year of college in the student union. My mom spotted him first, said he was cute and decided to go introduce herself to him so that she could introduce him to me. (Thanks mom!)

Were you looking for love at the time?
I think I was impatiently waiting and didn’t acknowledge it. But, I’ve had this thing for him since we first met.

Was it love at first sight?
We were 18 when we first met, but it definitely didn’t take long for me to fall for Brent. I think we both saw something special in our connection.

Most romantic date?
We went to this awesome jazz lounge (Blue’s Alley Jazz) in D.C. and then to this incredible chocolate bar for dessert after. I love jazz and I’m completely addicted to chocolate. It doesn’t get any better than D.C., jazz and chocolate.

Weirdest date ever?
We went to Belize and decided to go on a Rain Forest tour/excursion. There were monkey’s hanging high in the trees that had this terrible scream. I was scared out of my mind and gripping Brent for dear life!

Who said the “L Word” first?
He did! He sent me a text while he was working that read: “What would you say if I told you I loved you?” I told him to call me and find out. He called and said, “So, what’s the answer?” I said the answer to what? He then told me he loved me and I attempted not to fall off the couch from pure happiness.

How did he pop the question?
He took me to Belize for our first year anniversary. After a couple’s massage on the beach and dinner, we went for a walk on the beach. He got very quiet suddenly and was very nervous, which made me think something was wrong. He took my hand and said I want to talk to you. As we were walking his demeanor was very serious, telling me about our past year and how happy he was. He got down on his knee and asked if I would make him the happiest man in the world and be his wife.
