A lot can change in a year, just ask Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox.

The first-time Emmy attendee shared that last year she watched the show alone at home with a bowl of ice cream.

"I watch this every year, like usually my whole plan is to wake up in the beginning of the day, and I turn on E! and watch all day long," Cox told the network's Giuliana Rancic.

This year Cox wasn't only invited to the award show, but nominated for her role as Sophia on the Netflix original series. The cherry on top? A custom-made white Marc Bouwer gown adorned with Fred Leighton diamonds.

"There were moments during the fitting I started crying because it was so beautiful," shared Cox.

A modern day Cinderella story!
