Real Housewives of Atlanta star Apollo Nida has been sentenced to seven years and eight months in federal prison for a four-year scam including bank fraud, identity theft reportedly laundering over $2 million dollars through phony bank accounts and cashing stolen checks. Nida's sentence was reduced from 30 years down to seven in exchange for cooperating with federal investigators. [Vibe]

In a statement, the sorority's International President Attorney Carolyn House Stewart said "[DuVernay's] devotion to directing award-winning films, which portray positive images and convey uplifting messages, embodies the qualities of the Alpha Kappa Alpha woman."
