How did you meet your man?
Given the amount of time we both spend at the gym, it is no surprise that we met there. For me it was a legs day and for him it was shoulders, I believe. We started a conversation about the exercise he was doing.
Were you looking for love at the time?
No. In fact, I had a personal policy not to date men at the gym. I preferred to go to exercise, not to socialize.
What was your first impression of him?
I first noticed from afar how quiet and focused he was. He didn’t talk much, but he had a certain intensity about him when it came to his workouts.
What did he think of you?
I think he thought I was an angel. (Smiles.) He describes hearing bells and seeing a glow when he first noticed me.
Did you play hard to get?
Yes! Although I emailed him first, I didn’t agree to go on a date with him until a week later, and only because it was a group outing.
Most romantic date ever?
The best is yet to come.
How long did you date before you got engaged?
How did he pop the question?
After dinner one night as we walked to the car, I waited for him to open the passenger door for me. When I realized he hadn’t reached for the door I turned around and saw he had a jewelry box in his hand. He opened it to reveal a heart shaped diamond and emerald pendant and told me that he wanted to give me something as a sign of his commitment to me. I thanked him, hugged him and cried. He had never given me jewelry before. He went behind me to clasp it, and once it was around my neck I realized there was also a ring on the necklace. He then got down on one knee on the sidewalk and proposed.
