During a visit to London on Tuesday, ESSENCE Festival Headliner Prince stopped at the home of British soul singer Lianne La Havas to give a cozy performance in her living room.
According to Huffingtonpost.com, the pair met last year while La Havas toured the United States and bonded over similar musical tastes and a love of tea.
Prince played two acoustic tracks in front of a fire in the singer’s living room for a dozen people. Prince dubbed the sound “funky rock ‘n’ roll,” and included his new song “PretzelBodyLogic.”
The legend flew to London to start a string of performances to promote upcoming album Plectrum Electrum recorded with all-female trio 3RDEYEGIRL. The show dates are still evolving and yet to be confirmed. “We’re going to be here until people don’t want to hear us anymore.” Prince said.
Following his unique show at the home of La Havas, Prince took his talents to local landmark venue Electric Ballroom in North London. He played an unannounced late-night set and said that he’d be back at the club on Wednesday “a lot earlier and a lot funkier.”
The star is calling his trip to London “open-ended.”
