Move over Kenan Thompson, Kerry Washington's headed to the hosting post at Saturday Night Live!
For the first time in her career, Washington will headline the show, according to Deadline. Washington's episode is expected to air on November 2nd.
The news comes on the heels of Thompson's controversial comments to TV Guide stating that there aren't any Black female comedians on the show because they aren't "ready" for the job. "It's just part of the business," said Thompson. "Like in auditions, they just never find ones that are ready."
When asked how the show will handle spoofs about Black female celebrities, he said, "I don't know. We just haven't done them. That's what I'm saying. Maybe [Jay Pharaoh] will do it or something, but even he doesn't really want to do it."
Kevin Hart was the last Black celebrity to host the show in March of 2013. Maya Rudolph (a former SNL cast mate) was the last Black woman to host in 2012.
