Must-See: Rick Owens Runway Show Uses Black Steppers

Designer Rick Owens recruits stepping troupes to push the boundaries of conventional fashion and beauty.

Rick Owens, an American designer based in Paris wanted to give Parisians a taste of the American culture with his Spring 2014 runway presentation yesterday. Mission accomplished! The designer recruited fourty steppers (predominantly African American) from four stepping teams: Washington Divas, Soul Steppers, The Momentums, and The Zetas to present his collection while putting on an epic show meant to honor the art of step. Owens' explained that his presentation was about "rejecting conventional beauty and creating our own beauty."
