Where and how did you meet your man?
Kellen and I met in 2010 through mutual friends during Greek Picnic Weekend. My line sisters decided to take me to a party hosted by one of their close friends. I wasn’t sure where we were going, but they assured me it was well worth the trip. That trip led to Kellen’s house where we were first introduced to each other, and the rest is history.
Were you looking for love at the time?
Not at all. I was in my second year of law school and that was my one and only focus at the time.
What was your first impression of him?
Our first meeting was extremely brief. He seemed very distracted and disinterested during our introduction. I wasn’t impressed, and I actually thought he was a little rude.
Did you play hard to get?
I wouldn’t say “hard to get." I just wasn’t interested in dating anyone at the time. He definitely had to put in a little work to get my attention.
Describe your most romantic date ever.
I would have to say that was our first Valentine's Day as a couple. He took me to a very nice restaurant in Atlanta for dinner, followed by Dave and Buster's (yes, I played hoops in my heels...ha!), and then we went for ice cream. It was definitely unforgettable.
What's the sweetest thing he’s ever done for you?
It would have to be the morning right before our flight to Las Vegas. I had celebrated my birthday the evening before and was not feeling well. He woke up early and went to the store to get me Gatorade and crackers. He then sat with me in the bed, and nursed me back to health, so we wouldn’t miss our flight.
Best gift he ever got you?
Definitely my engagement ring!
What do your friends say about him?
We have a lot of mutual friends. My friends love him for me and think he's just the funniest guy ever.
What do your parents say about him?
My parents really love Kellen. They love that he comes from such a wonderful family and they know that I'm in good hands with him.
How long did you date before you got engaged?
A year and a half.
How did he pop the question?
It was July 2012 and Kellen was home from Charlotte, NC to celebrate my completion of the Georgia Bar Exam earlier that week. We decided that an afternoon picnic at Piedmont Park would be the perfect way to celebrate and enjoy each other. At some point during the picnic, Kellen’s sister arrived. Unbeknownst to me, this was all part of Kellen’s master plan. His sister, ready to celebrate, pulled out a bottle of champagne. As she toasted to my accomplishments, Kellen suddenly stood up proclaiming, “I have something I want to do.” He then took out his iPhone, and with the music playing, he began singing Tank’s “Next Breath.” He finally handed me his phone so that I could read the lyrics off the screen. So immersed in trying to read the lyrics, drink my champagne and figure out what exactly was taking place, I didn't even realize it when he pulled out the ring box. He got down on one knee, took my hand, and told me how much he loved me and asked me to marry him---- of course, I said “YES!” What was really going through your mind as he proposed? I think my mind went completely blank. I had no idea what he was doing and it took me a good two minutes to realize that he was on one knee asking me to be his wife.
What's your ring like?
My ring is custom designed with hearts and arrow diamonds. We never even looked at rings together. He did it all on his own with a little help from his ring-designing cousin.
How do his parents feel about you?
We definitely get along with each other’s families. My parents love him and his parents love me. Our parents are close to each other as well. It's a really great family dynamic.
Who would you cast to play your future hubby in a movie?
Fill in the blank: If you’re spying on us on a Friday night ___.
...you’ll probably catch us hanging out with our friends at a local bar.
Second to his heart, what’s the other sexiest part of his body?
It would be a tie between his arms and his smile. They are both great features!
Fill in the Blank: When we're (finally!) husband and wife, I can't wait to______.
...start a family.
Complete this sentence: I love that my future husband _____.
...is attentive to my needs. He always knows what I need.
