The former Wire star revealed the news to the Daily Mirror, saying, “This year I’m not going to work as an actor so I can concentrate on music. I do it from the heart, not for the money.”
Elba, who’s no stranger to spinning records at clubs and parties, is in the middle of a seven-week residency at a London nightclub. He goes by the name of DJ Driis when he’s at the turntable.

Although the Luther star won’t be shooting any new films this year, he has three big works slated for release before the year’s end, including Pacific Rim, Thor: The Dark World and Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
