Jada Pinkett Smith recently took to Facebook to make it clear that she's fine with daughter Willow, 12, whipping her hair, shaving it, coloring it or cutting it, whenever she pleases. In a Facebook status earlier this week, Jada writes:

"The question why I would LET Willow cut her hair, first the LET must be challenged. This is a world where women, girls are constantly reminded that they don't belong to themselves; that their bodies are not their own, nor their power or self determination. I made a promise to endow my little girl with the power to always know that her body, spirit and her mind are HER domain... It's also a statement that claims that even little girls have the RIGHT to own themselves and should not be a slave to even their mother's deepest insecurities, hopes and desires."

Dad Will Smith also backs Jada's sentiment. In a recent interview with Parade Magazine, Will said: "We let Willow cut her hair...If I teach her that I'm in charge of whether or not she can touch her hair, she's going to replace me with some other man when she goes out in the world."

Do you agree with the Smiths' stance on their daughter's hair? Granted, we have to do our children's hair when they're babies and unable to make their own decisions, but what do you do when they're tweens and ready to make their own choices? Do you let your tween children do their own hair? Take our poll, and let us know in the comments below.
