Lenny Kravitz has landed his first lead acting gig! The rocker and songwriter is set to play R&B legend Marvin Gaye in an upcoming biopic about the end of his life.

According to London's Evening Standard, the film, which has yet to be named, will be directed by British filmmaker Julien Temple. He is best known for his work on documentaries London: The Modern Babylon and Absolute Beginners.

Kravitz's role will center around the final days of Gaye's life —from 1981, when he moved to London, to 1984 at the time of his death — covering his alcohol addiction, tax issues and murder by his father.

It seems like Kravitz has caught the acting bug. He also appeared as Cinna in theThe Hunger Games, which hit theaters in March.

There is no news yet of when the film will go into production or be released, but until then fans can look forward to Kravitz's upcoming tenth album, Negrophilia.
