Stacey Dash has been going through hell on Twitter ever since she announced support for 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney. She appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight to explain her choice.
“I believe him. I watched him, the Governor and his wife on Meet the Press,” said the former Clueless actress who voted for President Barack Obama in 2008. “They spoke to me, they seemed authentic and genuine… I chose him not by the color of his skin but the content of his character,” said Dash. The actress also mentioned she believes in Romney’s plan to revitalize the economy.
Dash expressed she was “shocked and saddened” to receive such negative feedback on Twitter. Some people even suggested she commit suicide. Another tweeted “You’re an unemployed black woman endorsing Mitt Romney. You’re voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot.”
Despite the negative feedback, she’s not angry — she’s disappointed in her America. For her it’s a sign the nation isn’t united. “The fury, I really don’t understand the fury. I don’t understand it. I don’t get it… But you know what, you can’t expect everyone to agree with you.”
