Since this Philly sister stepped onto the scene in 2000, she’s been serving up authentic soul music. She’s put out four studio albums and only recently nabbed her first number one debut with The Light of the Sun.
In between the albums and tours, this EMF alum has found time to do a little acting too. In 2007 and 2010 she took her broad smile to the big screen in Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married and Why Did I Get Married Too? And most recently she snagged a role in the remake of Steel Magnolias alongside screen divas Queen Latifah and Phylicia Rashad.
In light of all of her success, this soulful mother of one hasn’t gone Hollywood. In fact, her heart remains in Philly. In 2003 Scott created Blues Babe Foundation which raises money to send Philly students to college. Since its establishment, Blues Babe Foundation has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to local scholars.
Join us as we salute and wish Miss Jill Scott a happy 40th birthday!
