Join Our Live Chat: Trayvon Martin: What Can We Do Now?

Comments

On February 26, a young Black man, carrying just a package of Skittles and an iced tea as he walked to the home of his father’s fiancée, was shot dead by a neighborhood watch leader who saw his hoodie and deemed him “suspicious.” More than a month later, with an investigation under way but still no arrest in the killing of Trayvon Martin, a national movement has ignited, demanding justice for the 17-year-old. Amid our grief and anger, we have so many questions: How could this happen with no consequences? How can we help Trayvon's parents? And how can we protect our own sons?

This Wednesday at 6 p.m. EST, join ESSENCE and special guest Charles M. Blow, whose New York Times column "The Curious Case of Trayvon Martin" helped draw attention to this tragedy, as we discuss how this young man's death has affected our community, and what we can do to empower our children.

Spread the word. Speak up for Trayvon. Join us on Wednesday, March 28, at 6 p.m.
