CNN analyst Roland Martin has been suspended by the cable network following calls for his dismissal by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) after he tweeted what they deemed as homophobic comments.

The organization found little funny in Martin's tweets about soccer player David Beckham H&M commercial during the Super Bowl. "If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him! #superbowl" tweeted Martin during Sunday's game.

Today, the network responded by announcing Martin's suspension. “Roland Martin’s tweets were regrettable and offensive. Language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated," read a statement.

Earlier in the week Martin issued an apology, saying his tweets were in jest. "It was not meant literally, and in no way would I ever condone someone doing such a thing," he wrote. An incessant tweeter, Martin has not responded to the suspension yet.

What do you think? Did Roland Martin, or CNN, go too far?
