The Associated Press reports that prosecutors withdrew their request for payments from the jailed doctor after meeting with Katherine and Joe Jackson. Earlier, the King of Pop’s estate claimed the singer would have earned at least $100M from his concerts at London’s O2 arena.
Had the request gone through, Murray would have possibly been forced to pay $1.8M in funeral expenses for Jackson, who died in 2009. His lawyers claimed he didn’t have the money and would be unable to pay it.

Murray currently sits in a California jail and is expected to serve half of his four year sentence due to overcrowding. The disgraced physician continues trying to prove his innocence, recently filing court papers to prove that Jackson self-administered the fatal dose of Propofol.

Even if he does get out of jail early, Murray could be going back if Joe Jackson has his way. The elder Jackson is keeping his civil lawsuit and is continuing plans to sue concert promoters AEG Live for negligence.
