The 2012 ESSENCE Music Festival rolls into New Orleans for another weekend of good music, great food, and all around good times.
Mary J. Blige, Aretha Franklin, Fantasia, and Keyshia Cole are just a few of the names we're excited to see take the stage at the Superdome come Fourth of July weekend in the Big Easy.
This year's festival celebrates the "power of our voices" with sure-to-be breathtaking performances from the likes of Franklin and Blige, plus empowerment seminars by Steve Harvey and Rep. Maxine Waters.
"Whether it’s Aretha Franklin, The Queen of Soul commanding respect or Rep. Maxine Waters demanding better conditions for our community, these powerful voices resonate with our audience like no other,” says Michelle Ebanks, president of Essence Communications Inc.
Other acts making their way to Nawlins July 6-8 include Ledisi, Charlie Wilson, Raheem DeVaughn and 90s R&B girl group, SWV.

I realize that the cost of adding such artists may be greater, but I for one would be willing to pay more! The festival should be the best so why not invite the best! I think the organizers of the Festival should give the people what they want!! The Essence Festival is not the same and never will be the same without Frankie Beverly closing it out!! What does it take for us to hear from the Essence organizers about MAZE!!! Maybe we should all PROTEST to bring back MAZE!!
