He was born Ralph Lifshitz in the Bronx, New York.

No one would have bet that a man called Ralph Lifshitz would become the creator of the most regal and luxurious American label. Turns out, it would have been a winning bet.

With the launch of his label (first simply called Polo) in 1967, Lauren got the attention of the fashion industry with classic, sophisticated menswear. He soon transitioned into womenswear, where that same sense of luxury and romance was front and center in his grand designs.

Over forty years later, the fashion industry and Hollywood alike are still in love with Lauren. Oprah, Chanel Iman and Veronica Webb are just a handful of the stylish celebs who turn to him time and again.
