Front Row Journal: Day 3

ESSENCE Editor-in-Chief Constance White delivers the 4-1-1 from front row at NYFW.

Duro Olowu's show was the insider hotspot last night. Produced by Bethann Hardison, hosted by Olowu's wife, Thelma Golden, who Duro flew in from England to present the show. Plenty of black bloggers and editors took in the languid, softly printed dresses and skirts. Then Anna Wintour dropped in with daughter Bee Shaffer, causing a stir. Tucked to one side of the room -iconic designer Stephen Burrows watched in dark glasses. So cool, that Stephen. Ikram Goldman (Mrs. Obama's former wardrober) and Solange (with full afro) checked it out.

Carmen Marc Valvo has had great success dressing some of our biggest and smallest stars. Queen Latifah, Vanessa Williams and Gabourey Sidibe. Add to the list Wendy "how ya doin" WIlliams, who enjoyed the show and went back stage to give congrats to the designer as Carmen, perspiring from the heat backstage, mopped his head with a rag.

A new and intriguing name surfacing at the shows is Aldo, the affordable shoe line. Could we eventually see high end designers getting custom runway shoes from Aldo?  Instead of Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin?

Before you answer, I'll say this: the most talked about collection so far is from Target's Missoni line. The clothes. are good and I hear the home line is even better. You may want to see for yourself.
