In honor of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. memorial unveiling on Sunday, August 28th, in our nation’s capital, BET is teaming up with the Dr. MLK Jr. National Memorial Foundation for a special day of programming.
According to a press release, Hill Harper will host a 30-minute program, “Alpha Man: The Brotherhood of MLK” focusing on the untold story of the leader’s life as a member of the prestigious Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at 7 p.m.

Immediately following that program, BET will air an in-depth look at Michelle Obama’s trip to South Africa and Botswana with “Michelle Obama On a Mission: Impact Africa.” Mrs. O’s trip highlights her visit to the motherland as she “spreads a message of unity and hope.”

Ahead of that evening’s blockbuster shows, the network will air “King” (9:30 a.m.) and the memorial dedication live with President Obama (12 p.m.). BET will also sit with the cast of their newest series “Reed Between the Lines” and have them share their personal testimonies on the MLK memorial.
