Donald Trump thinks he can save America? He couldn't even save his companies from filing bankruptcy (at least twice). Trump Sr. couldn't avoid two failed marriages — one with Ivana Trump, who even with a pre-nup reportedly cashed in for over 20 million. "The Donald" can't even control Gary Busey on "Celebrity Apprentice." What exactly does the man who spits "You're fired!" every week on reality TV think he can do for the United States?
Donald Trump's image is a narcissist with entitlement issues who knows how to make news. Anything he wants should be his — from colonizing midtown Manhattan to bedding a beauty queen while he was married ("allegedly" Trump was dipping it low with Marla Maples while he was still married to Ivana) to nabbing a woman 24 years his junior (his current wife, Melania Knauss). Now, Trump is on an "Obama isn't American" promo tour.
Trump's gotten the side-eye for these birther rants from John Legend, Bill Cosby and the ladies of "The View," especially Whoopi Goldberg. During a radio interview last Thursday, the king of comb-overs enlightened us with his way of talking race in America, "I've always had a great relationship with the Blacks." The Blacks? Why not just say "the coloreds"?
In the same interview, being disappointed that so many African-Americans supported Obama, he whined, "Hillary Clinton did so much for the Black population, so much and got very few votes." Uber rich Donald Trump telling "the Blacks" to be grateful for Miss Hillary? That sounds like a line Master Reynolds would've said to Kunta Kinte in "Roots." Yes, us common Negroes should dismiss how Clinton ignored the genocide in Rwanda. How about the atrocious 1996 Welfare Reform Bill? Or the complete failure of the prison system?
President Clinton was an improvement compared to past presidents, and he started a dialogue on race that presidents before him never had, but Clinton was not flawless. If anything, he knew how to talk to the Black community. But eating fried chicken and attending Black churches is not enough. The last thing "the Blacks" need is a rich White man telling African-Americans how we should be grateful for a former President's First Lady.
Why didn't Mr. Trump take a stand for America when President Bush was office? In June of 2008, Trump ranted about Bush, "We have a President in the United States who's terrible. He stinks." Why is Trump choosing this time to be America's Superman? Maybe it's because President Obama is one of "the Blacks" that he doesn't have a "great relationship" with.
Donald Trump is a reality television star turning into another sideshow in politics. His level of salaciousness is no different than a cast member on "Real Housewives of Foolishness." What's next? NeNe Leakes appointed Secretary of State? Snooki as Secretary of Defense? Kim Kardashian as Secretary of Health & Human Services?
Donald should take a step back into his own lane; he is treading into sticky territory. The public can quickly turn on you.
