ESSENCE's 2011 'Black Women in Music' Event

Grammy-nominated singer Janelle Monae has always marched to the beat of her own drum. Last night when ESSENCE honored the young eclectic talent at our second annual "Black Women in Music" event during Grammy Week, Monae had everyone at L.A.'s Playhouse Hollywood — from hosts Diddy and Big Boi, to guests Joy Bryant and Nia Long — feeling her beat.
