Today’s topic: Vasectomy
Hey Steve and Shirley,
I am a single black professional female and I am also a single mother. I have been dating a co-worker for a year. When I first met him, he was dating another co-worker (I didn’t know — I had only been there a few months). Well, that didnt work out, then I learned he was interested in me. I believe he had already been interested from some of the things he would say (harmless flirting). So, he approached me and we began dating. I was pregnant at the time he approached me, he knew that. I wasn’t with my childs father due to other circumstances. But, this man is not someone who I would normally date. He was such a sweetheart and gave it a try. He has most of the qualities I want. He has been a friend, a supporter and motivator. He adores my little girl and he makes me feel like I am the only woman in the world. Plus he cooks for me and he is there for me emotionally. I’ve met his family and he’s met mine and we’ve been to each other’s churches. He talks about marriage a lot — it seems like he is ideal for me — the thing is, he is what others would say is ugly and he is definitely not attractive. But, I have grown to love him. Another issue, that I do not think I can get over, is the fact that he cannot have any more children. I am 29 and he is in his early 30s and he has a daughter; I want another child. He has had a vasectomy and he brushes it off when I try to have this conversation about more children with him. I guess he fills, that this is something I can just forget about and let go. Can you be with someone you are not that attracted to? Am I being superficial? What am I to do?
Signed,
I’m in Love with My Co-Worker
