Every day we feature the beloved “Strawberry Letter” franchise that is so popular on “The Steve Harvey Morning Show,” heard nationwide. Send in your letters and Shirley Strawberry will dish out the necessary advice. Today’s topic: He lied about his child Dear Steve and Shirley, I married my husband in July 2007 without knowing that he had a child from a previous relationship. When we were dating I asked all of the appropriate questions — do you have any children? Is there any possibility that you have any children that you are not aware of? All of his answers were “no.” Yet five months into our marriage there was a woman who claimed that he was the father of her then 9-year-old daughter, and was seeking to collect child support from him. I was, to say the least, shocked. I stood by my husband when he completely denied ever being sexually involved with this woman. However, the next month $500 was missing from his paycheck for child support for this child. How is this possible when he claims that this is not his child? Still I explained to my husband that this was not the end of the world. ‘If the child is yours support her. If not then lets go to court and fight this,’ I told him. To make a long story short, things went from bad to worse in our marriage and ultimately ended in a seperation. We have been seperated for six months now and he has just admitted to me, what was painfully obvious, that he is in fact the childs father. I understand that marriages have there ups and downs and need to know whether or not to move forward with our marriage or to call it quits.
