Like Mary J. Blige and First Lady Michelle Obama's math and science initiatives, rapper/ actor Mos Def and neo-soul singer Goapele want to make math and science discovery appealing to kids of color. The two are teaming up with African-American NASA astronaut Leland Melvin to help promote science and education by hosting a Science and Culture Festival in Oakland this weekend, featuring the first holographic presentation by NASA. "I'm just here to give the young people some inspiration, some positive encouragement and some good information about science, technology, creativity and discovery and how to use math, science and information to make a positive impact and changes on the world around us," said Mos.   The event is free and takes place at the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland this Sunday, September 5th.
