The Black community is suffering from diabetes, HIV/AIDS, obesity, cancer and other conditions at alarming rates that require proactive healthcare for prevention and diagnosis. Communication between doctors and patients is a part of the healthcare process that is often neglected. A recent study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine found that a lack of communication is causing confusion in the doctor-patient relationship. The survey also found that the "disconnect" between doctors and patients is greater with minority patients.
