Rapper Nelly has had huge success controlling the airwaves with his music, and now he'll control the airwaves as a radio DJ.The St. Louis emcee born Cornell Haynes, 35, has landed a gig at thelocal radio station, Hot 104.1 FM in St. Louis, as a DJ for his own radio show.Taking the rush hour drive time slot of 3-7 pm, Nelly will be a temporary replacement for afternoon presenter Staci Static, who is on maternity leave. From a PR standpoint the job is great opportunity for Nelly to promote his upcoming album '5.0' slated for a November release, although WHHL's program director, Mickey Johnson, states that isn't the reason Nelly was given the job. "I was looking for... someone who had that star power... who could continue to drive the ratings and make it interesting," Johnson explains.Nelly's ambitions of being a radio jockey, are shared by his celebrity peers. Nelly joins a handful of other big names in music, film, and television who have currently put on their radio hats for air time:
