Every day we feature the beloved "Strawberry Letter
" franchise that is so popular on "The Steve Harvey Morning Show
," heard nationwide. Send in your letters and Shirley Strawberry will dish out the necessary advice. Today's topic: My sister needs help
Good Morning Crew, I need help with supporting my little sister. She is 22 years old with a four-year-old son and is six months pregnant with her second child. She's the average "project girl." She's the talk of the projects, from the dirty clothes that she wears to the fights she and her "babbydaddy" go through in front of the whole project to see. I live in Georgia so it's not everyday that she and I talk, but when we do, I try to just informer her of a new outlook on life. I have tried to just be real with her to get her to see that she can do better than what she's doing. I don't want to judge her or to have her feel that I'm trying to mother her. I just want her to look at me -- I've been there and done that. I have had my times of mistakes and I just don't want her to go down that same road. She has no one back home to support her. Our mom just talks about her and puts her down (I've been there. She's done the same to me.) Our aunts are in no position to offer advice because of their living conditions, but they talk about my sister and they help her peers spread the rumors about her. I'm the only one in the family who actually cares about her image, her well being and her future. How do I get her to see this? How do I positively get her to see her conditions and how she needs to change them if she wants better? I pray for her and the rest of my family as well. How do I get the understanding across to her? --A sister's love
