Ask the Experts: LaLa's Wedding Hair

LaLa Vazquez and Carmelo Anthony's wedding celebration last weekend was one of the prettiest we've ever seen! The Mindy Weiss-planned affair was dazzling, the celeb-studded attendees looked stunning, but LaLa herself was the most beautiful part of the day (as it should be!). We were so obsessed with the bride's flowing romantic hair, that we went straight to the source for insider tips on how to create the look. Here, our chat with LaLa's wedding hairstylist, Crystal Oliver of L.A.'s Crystal Blings Salon Studio. ESSENCE.com: What were you going for with LaLa's super-romantic wedding hairstyle? CRYSTAL OLIVER: We went for elegant deep waves to go to complement her layered ruffle dress.   ESSENCE.com: How can we reproduce the look at home? OLIVER: First, smooth out the ends of your hair with a styling cream... I used Mirrior Glossing Cream by Lea Journo. Then, take medium sections and wrap the hair around a nickel-sized curling iron, curling away from your face. Hold for six seconds, and release. After the full head head is completely curled and cooled, run your fingers through the curls and set with holding spay, like Radical Extreme Hold by Rusk. I also used Moroccan Oil, a staple in my kit!   ESSENCE.com: What was the inspiration behind LaLa's look? OLIVER:LaLa always likes a tousled look. When coming up with ideas for her wedding hair, she found a few beautiful photos of Melanie Fiona with long waves. So, we took that look and made it LaLa's own for her special day!
